PROGRAM INFORMATION: TEAM SPORTS & GYMNASTICS/TENNIS UPDATES

Ms. Drenski stated that she has proposed a plan to Mayor Kennedy to have a fitness center
at the Recreation Center and that he is in favor of it. The plan is to have the fitness center
upstairs where gymnastics is and to move gymnastics down to the tennis area on courts 1
and 2. Courts 3 and 4 will be used to support our current tennis programs. Ms. Drenski gave
an overview of the purposed layout for the fitness center and gymnastics area. Mr. Wetmore
commented that the fitness center would allow us to cater to North Olmsted residents and their
needs, and that we do not see our revenue as being impacted negatively without the use of courts
1 and 2 for tennis. During downtime on the courts, we are currently offering volleyball practice
and pickle ball matches. Gymnastics will also see an increase in revenue with their new location.
The increase in space will allow them to have a vault lane and the ability to host gymnastic
meets. The cardio area of the fitness center will have windows that will look out over the pool
with televisions above them. Mr. Kearney commented that he thinks the fitness center is a great
idea. Mr. Scarl also commented that he thinks this is a good idea and wanted to know where the
startup fees will come from. Ms. Drenski stated that to buy the fitness equipment would be
costly so she is looking into options for leasing the equipment or going into partnership with
one of the hospitals.

TEAM SPORTS & GYMNASTICS/TENNIS UPDATES CONT.:

Ms. Drenski noted that she also spoke with Finance Director Carrie Copfer to see what our
options are concerning funding since we do not have the money in our budget to fund this
project. Mr. Kearney asked for a time frame for this project. Ms. Drenski purposed that
permanent court time ends in April so at that time we could shut down the courts and get
the two tennis courts ready for gymnastics first. Gymnastics has down time in August so
at that time we would move them to the courts so that they could start on time for their Fall
program. We are looking to have the fitness area completed by November. Ms. Drenski
asked the commission to vote on approval of the concept to move forward with the project.
A motion to accept the concept for bringing fitness to the Recreation Center was passed
unanimously.

COMMISSION MEMBER TOPICS:

None.

GUEST TOPICS:

None.
