CITY OF NORTH OL ►STF.D <br />CIVIL SSRVICS COMMISSION <br />NORTH OLMSTED, 01400 <br />2 <br />from Mr. Robert Storch, Assistant Superintendent of Schools <br />requesting changes in the original agreement between the Board <br />of Education and the North Olmsted Civil. Service Commission dated <br />September 21, 1967. Of concern to the Commission is who has status <br />of a ;principal appointive position as is consistent Zrith the Ohio <br />revised Code 124.11 (A) (7), (8), and (9) for the purpose of <br />establishing clerical positions which are exempt from Civil <br />Service. After considerable discussion and studying of the <br />statutes, it was moved by Roger Alexander and seconded by Harry <br />Malone that a letter be sent to Mr. Michael Gareau, Director of <br />Law requesting an opinion on the interpretations of the above <br />code sections. <br />Passed., <br />'Mr. Storch was requested to furnish statements in defense of the <br />Board of Education's position and also the duties of the secondary <br />school positions proposed to be excluded. This will be included <br />in the letter to Mr. Gareau. <br />NEW BUSIT?ESS: <br />In response to Mr. Storch's letter of September 14, 1979 concerning <br />a reDlacement for Vincent Schilens, Maintenance Mechanic, who is <br />on a one-year leave of absence, a emotion was made by Roger <br />Alexander, seconded by Walter Spalding that an examination for <br />Maintenance Mechanic be held as soon as possible. <br />Passed. <br />Chief Taylor requested the Commission to review and clarify the <br />position of police dispatcher vis a vis Civil Service., He presented <br />a copy of a letter from the Director of Law in which Mr® Gareau <br />stated that it was his opinion that the dispatchers are currently <br />in an unclassified position. A motion was made by Roger Alexander <br />and seconded by.Walter Spalding that the position of police <br />dispatcher be made a classified -competitive position. <br />Passed <br />The secretary will contact McCann's concerning the availability <br />of a test for police dispatcher. Neighboring Civil Service <br />Commissions will be contacted in regard to the type of testing <br />used by them for this position. The Finance Department will be <br />notified to add the names of the current dispatchers to the <br />Civil Service payroll. <br />
