Review Request - 1982 Entry -Level Firefighter -Paramedic Test. Request
to review the October 12, 1982 Firefighter test was made by Candidate John
Davis. Secretary Mrs. Bahas explained that although an earlier request by
phone was made within the allowed time frame, the formal written request
was made after the 10 day deadline. Motion to deny the request was made by
Roger Alexander and seconded by Philip Huffman. Motion passed.
2. Physical Qualifying Test Equipment. Commission members were informed by
the Civil Service Secretary that the equipment specified by the American
Physical Qualifying Testing Service presented several problems. In one
instance the designated equipment was obsolete and in another case the
specified hand grip meter was almost impossible to obtain. It was sug-
gested by Commission members that should this service be retained for future
tests, inquiries should be made as to the feasibility and/or source for
purchasing a hand grip meter rather than relying upon the availability for
borrowing one.
3. Request for Test Content Revision - Firefighter Promotional Test. Mrs.
Bahas informed the Commission that Fire Chief Van Kuren felt the promotional
test for the Fire Department would be more relevant if the examination in-
cluded questions that dealt with the firefighter's paramedic experience and
expertise. Since paramedic runs outnumber firefighting responses, the
Commission instructed the Secretary to write McCann Test Consultants re-
garding the matter.
4. North Olmsted Police Promotional Test Results_. Commissioner Randolph
Perla moved to accept McCann's suggested passing score of 72. Philip Huffman
seconded the motion. Motion passed. Identification envelopes of the pro-
motional candidates were then opened and matched to the raw test scores.
Those candidates with a passing score of 72 or higher are as follows:
The entire list can be found in the 1982 North Olmsted Police Promotional
Test File. A ranked certified list reflecting additional score points for
seniority and evaluation credits will be presented to the Commission at the
next Civil Service Meeting.
