She hopes to draft legislation which will
address this situation.
Discussion on this issue was closed with the Commission members
and the directors deciding to reevaluate the clerical in an
effort to see whether it might be better to adding a second
classification of clerk -typist that would more accurately
reflect the required additional skills, stress factors,
and responsibilities. The reevaluated positions would be
submitted to the Commission in the near future.
2) The final issues considered under the classification topic
were a clerification of the charter provisions dealing with the
definition of department head's, division head's, and their
secretaries' classification status. The Commission members
felt the present unclassified list was correct. Mrs. Bahas
also asked for clerifiction of the factors that determined whether
unskilled labor, such as school custodians, should be
non -classified or classified non-competitive. Chairman
Alexander felt unskilled labor, unless excluded by charter
.provisions, should be considered as classified non-competitive,
but the Commission took no specific action regarding present
school positions regarded as non -classified. Mrs. Bahas
stated she would provide a list of all the classified positions
for both the school board and the city at the next meeting.
New Business
1) ,'Test results- Board of Education secretary.
Commission members adopted the suggested.score by McCann, which
was 50,as the passing score.
