Randall Angle Hearing <br />February 28, 1985 <br />Page 4 <br />Law Director Gareau stated that there is nothing of <br />incident regarding the "open container" happened in <br />thing here is truthfulness. It is not the incident <br />lying about the incident. He stated that Mr. Angle <br />employment with the Police Department for drinking <br />is important is Mr. Axle's work record. <br />record to indicate that the <br />someone's backyard. Also what <br />Mr. Robert Angle asked if North Olmsted had a probation period for their new <br />Policemen. Captain Marsh answer in the affirmative. <br />law Director Gareau stated that anytime you lie, before or after appointment to the <br />North Olmsted Police Epartment, you can be released. Also, a major problem was that <br />not only once did Mr. Angle lie, but three different times. Mr. Angle stated that <br />during the second intE view he clarified all these points. Mr. Gareau asked Mr. Angle <br />what was in his mind men he stated he received no reprimands from any past employments. <br />Mr. Angle answered tha,,lhe doesn't remember everything, does Mr. Gareau? <br />Mr. Angle then stated he would like to get back to the Fairview Park incident. He said <br />that they were very coaperative, his statement corroborates that of the Policeman <br />involved. Law Director Gareau stated that no, one would fault Mr. Angle if he had told <br />the truth. There are too many different stories involved. Law Director Gareau also <br />stated that Mr. Angle -probably wanted to look his best at the interview but that that <br />was not enough and that he should have been totally truthful. <br />Law Director Gareau tben:asked if anyone else wanted to say anything regarding this <br />matter. Negative. At this point Phil Huffman and Dean McKay, Commission Members, <br />stepped out to delibemate-the situation. Time; 8:25 p.m. At 8:30 p.m. Dr. Huffman <br />and Mr. McKay returned and in -motion made by Dr. Huffman and seconded by Mr. McKay, <br />it was decided to uphold' the removal of Mr. Angle from the Police Department Certified <br />List and that although the Commission understood Mr. Angle's position, multiple <br />inconsistencies are case for removal. Motion passed unanimously. After inquiry, <br />Mr. Angle was informed that, yes, he was eligible for the entry exam to be given <br />in the Spring of 1986. Mr. Angle then inquired of Captain Marsh whether or not he <br />could become involved in. Auxiliary Police work. Mr. Petre then stated that since <br />a` <br />he, Mr. Angle, wanted tbe a policeman all his life, what he had done to prepare <br />himself for this end iss, important. Mr. Angle then asked again of Captain Marsh <br />information regarding A xiliary Police work and he was informed that Sergeant Lambert <br />handled- Auxiliary Polee. Law Director Gareau then stated that from now on Mr. Angle <br />should always tell the truth; it is very important. <br />Mr. Robert. Angle hien thanked everyone for their information and help and stated that <br />Randall-, he was sure, had.benefited. There being no further business regarding this <br />matter, Mr. Robert AngXe- and Mr. Randall Angle left the meeting. Time; approximately <br />8:40 p.m. <br />At approximately 8:40 p.m. the regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission, of <br />February 28, 1985, continued. <br />
