Civil Service Commission
Minutes - Regular Meeting - November 6, 1985
Page Two
Typing Test:
After a short discussion it was decided by the Commission that we will administer,
whenever warranted, two 5 -minute timed tests and apply the best score of both tests
to the applicant's credit.
Part-time vs. full-time:
Secretary Westerfeld reported to the Commission that upon investigation it was found
that the State considers any hours under 40 to be part-time hours. The county, on
the other hand, uses less than 36 or 37 hours as part-time. After some discussion
it was determined.by the Commission, upon recommendation from the state level, that
we would set our own number of hours to be considered part-time. Motion was made by
Dean McKay to set part-time hours at 20 or less for the City of North Olmsted and to
include the hours in the rules. Motion unanimously carried. Secretary Westerfeld
inquired as to the status of the part-time receptionist and was informed that that
position is not Civil Service status.
MINUTES:
Dean McKay moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as read. All
were in favor and minutes were approved.
NEE BUSINESS:
Resignation of Dean McKay:
Mr. McKay stated that he is officially tendering his resignation pending appointment
of a new Commission member or December 31, which ever comes first. The Commission
congratulated Mr. McKay on winning the election and wished him success.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:35 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Sandi Westerfeld
Secretary
Dr. Philip Huffman, Chairman
