kms• <br />Page #2 - CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING - 6/25/87 <br />NEV BUSINESS <br />Letter sent to Mr. James Kline, Director of Personnel, North Olmsted <br />City Schools summarizing the Secretary I test for the schools: 180 <br />applications picked up - 138 candidates tested. Test results have not <br />been received from the testing company at this time, but will be <br />forwarded to the the director and the candidates as soon as possible <br />after receipt of same. <br />The mechanic test for the transportation department of the North Olmsted <br />Schools was discussed. Several testing companies have been researched <br />and when this material is received a meeting will be arranged with Mr. <br />Kline and Mr. Len Frick, Director of Transportation, for the purpose of <br />evaluating the testing company. This test will be given sometime in the <br />fall. <br />Letter received from Mr. Ed Boyle, Finance Director of the City of North <br />Olmsted, re all requests for payments to be approved by the Mayor or the <br />Director of Budget & Management. Secretary of the commission will <br />confer with Mr. Boyle with respect to the Civil Service budget <br />appropriation. <br />Letter received from Service Director for the City, Mr. Richard Noble, <br />re bargaining agent for Civil Service/AFSCME personnel. The commission <br />will draft a letter to Law Director Gareau asking for a legal opinion on <br />this matter. <br />OTHER <br />Chairman, Pat Bahas and secretary to the commission attended the Finance <br />meeting and requested civil service budget appropriation be increased <br />$2,000 to cover expenses incurred in testing, safety department medical <br />bills and other matters to carry on for the balance of the year. <br />Request also submitted to grant an increase in payroll from $4,000 per <br />year to $6,000 per year for secretarial service. Also, that <br />commissioners be granted a stipend of $25.00 for attendance at Hearings <br />along with their regular $10.00 per meeting. Members of the Finance <br />Committee sanctioned these requests. <br />Discussion surrounding a invoice received from A & B Word Processing <br />submitted to cover the cost of attempting to transcribe the tapes <br />surrounding the Hearing of Mr. Ken Neumann vs City of North Olmsted. <br />Invoice to be submitted for payment. <br />Meeting adjourned at 8:50 P.M. <br />
