NORTH OLMSTED CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING JUNE 25, 1987
PRESENT: MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION: PAT BAHAS, TOM STROH, BOB WENDT,
PEG HILL, SECRETARY, REPORTER FROM WESTLIFE
GUEST: MR. KEN THOMPSON, POLICE DEPARTMENT RANKED ENTRY LEVEL
CANDIDATE.
The agenda items at this meeting were set aside to allow Mr. Thompson to
be heard.
Mr. Thompson came before the commission to petition to be returned to
the active certified list of entry level candidates for the North
Olmsted Police Department.
Mr. Thompson stated in early May his vision did not meet the standards
set by the police department. Mr. Wendt quoted the standards for visual
and distance acuity. Mr. Thompson stated that he underwent a surgical
procedure that now has corrected his vision to the acceptable standard
and a letter from his doctor would be forthcoming within the week to
verify this fact. Commission members will make their decision after
verfication from the eye surgeon.
Mr. Thompson excused and regular meeting continued.
OLD BUSINESS
Police Sergeant Promotion Test to be given July 15, 1987, Mr. Stroh and
Mr. Wendt will be giving this test to the candidates. Secretary
contacted Chief Marsh and he will forward to the commission the names of
the officers interested in taking this test. The testing company
informed the commission that this test was more expensive to give than
some of the other tests., A final count of candidates will be submitted
via the phone when we are assured of the number of test candidates.
Secretary will make arrangements to secure a building permit from the
administrative office of the school -board.
Letters forwarded to the remaining candidates on the certified list of
City Clerks inquiring as to their desire in staying on the eligible
list. If they desire to stay on the list the testing company will
rescale their scores on the new eligible list of candidates.
Notice sent out re Hearing for James Hose, ranked candidate on the entry
level police officer list. This private hearing is scheduled for July
1, 1987 at 1:00 P.M. in the Town Hall. Local newspapers notified.
