Page #3
Civil Service Commission - Minutes 6/9/87
Mr. Stroh: When we get the results back from our inquiry to the current
candidates we should send a list to Ms. Jack and say here is a list of
candidates for the senior center, contact them, and hire one. Ms.
Bahas: "however, if we have less than three candidates that agree to the
interview - then we will have to test". Mr. Wendt: "most of the time
you do not have candidates that have taken the test and relate they do
not want an interview". "This would be a very small percentage".
Further discussion followed between Mr. Stroh, Mr. Wendt and Ms. Bahas.
A copy of the letter going to viable candidates will be sent to the
Mayor and Ms. Jack.
Discussion followed relating to the upcoming test for police sergeants
and the test to be given for the North Olmsted Schools for a bus
mechanic. Jim Kline will be contacted to inqure if the bus mechanic is
state certified. If not, we will poll the surrounding districts to
inquire what kind of test they gave for a mechanic and the testin g
company used.
Commissioners were informed that the test for the clerk for the City of
North Olmsted is slated to be given June 30, 1987 and last day for
accepting applications will be June 25th. McCann & Associates will be
forwarding study guides for this test in the near future and the
secretary will see that all candidates for testing receive a copy.
The police sergeant test is slated for July 15, 1987 and study guides
for this test were given to the chief for distribution to candidates.
When the civil service commission has accomplished the above two test we
will have given fifteen (15) tests since November of 1986 along with two
(2) Hearings, and another one scheduled to be heard sometime in July.
As a result the appropriated budget figure will have to be studied as we
are dangerously close to having used up the appropriation for this year.
A meeting will be scheduled to go over the figures as soon as possible.
The hearing for the police candidate scheduled for July 1, 1987 at 1:00
P.M. in the Town Hall discussed. Secretary will notify all parties
concerned re this hearing.
Meeting adjourned at 6:15 P.M.
Peg Hill,
Secretary
NORTH OLMSTED CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
