CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO
.mss
MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING
July 23, 1987
ROLL CALL:
The regular meeting of the North Olmsted Civil Service Commission was
called to order at 4:00 P.M. by Chairman, Patricia.Bahas. In attendance
were Tom Stroh, Bob Wendt, and Peg Hill.
MINUTES:
The minutes of the former meeting were approved in advance of this
meeting.
MEETING: The agenda items at this meeting were set aside to hear an
appeal to the commission from Mr. Kenneth Thompson appearing as a
certified and ranked candidate for the North Olmsted Police Department.
Mr. Thompson stated he was unaware at the time of his testing that he
did not meet the vision requirement for the department. He further
stated that he had a corrective surgery performed by his doctor and was
now within the limits of the requirement by the department. Mr.
Thompson was read the Police Department written visual acuity
measurement and his misunderstanding was pointed out to him. The
commission pointed out to Mr. Thompson that his interview would have to
be considered as his first interview and that he had the opportunity of
one more interviewbefore he would be removed from the certified list.
Mr. Thompson felt that after his surgery he would not have the problem
with the vision requirement and expressed a desire to be,interviewed
once more for entry level police position. The commission alerted Mr.
Thompson that we would be in communication with his doctor and would be
requesting medical information for our records. After receiving medical
verification from the doctor the commission will again look at this
concern at our next meeting in August. Mr. Thompson was excused.
NEW BUSINESS:
Notice sent to directors and department heads by Mayor Petrigac
indicates that civil service purchasing and payment of bills goes to the
mayor's office for her signature. All requisitions must have the
signature of a director before they are submitted for payment.
Discussion followed as to the routing.of civil service requisitions.
Commission members felt a meeting with the mayor would be the best route
to go to clear up the confusion regarding payment of bills, etc.
Letter received from Psychological Resources with a form to be returned
to the company by the commission. Mr. Wendt will review the contents of
the material and report disposition at the August meeting.
Letter received from Eugene Zoldesy regarding civil service:status. Mr.
Zoldesy will receive a'communication from the commission.re his status.
