CIVIL SERVICE MEETING - 7/23/87
Page #4
Returning to the decision that will have'to be made on the Ken Thompson
case. The commission requested the secretary to contact the doctor to
ask about the June 11th letter stating the left eye vision to be 20/200.
Is this a "typo"? Is there another letter that we did not.receive?
This information is not the same as told to us on the phone - it was our
understanding, per Mr. Wendt, that one eye was 20/40 and the other eye
was 20/40.
Mrs. Bahas: If both of his eyes together are 20/25, that could not be
right either, it would mean that he was using one eye - 20/200 I can't
believe that. We will have to call the doctor on that. It does not
comply with the rules I'm sure of that.
Mr. Wendt: It does not.
Mrs. Bahas: Instructed secretary to call the doctor.
Question on Eugene Zoldesy having civil service coverage. Check this
matter of his title with Service Director. Will make a determination
after receiving this information.
Commission members opened the envelopes of the recent City Clerk test.
Report from the testing company read by commissions with special
attention being given to how the company worked in the grades of the
former ranked candidates with the new grades of current candidates.
Injected thinking at this meeting also was that the flyer information
regarding boundary and vision requirements on applications be signed by
the candidate acknowledging the fact that he viewed this information
and would be able to meet these standards. This would eliminate a
candidate from saying he did not know of specific requirements as a
candidate. Add this iformation also on the instructional sheet.
This could eliminate all the attachments to the applications.
All candidates will be notified of their ranking on the written exam for
City Clerk after this meeting. The typing test is set for Wednesday,
August 12, 1,987 for those candidates passing the written.
Meeting adjourned.
Peg Hill,
Secretary
Patricia Bahas
Chairman
