Page #2 - Civil Service Meeting - 2/25/88
After further questioning of hospital personnel by commissioners and
both chiefs Mr. Wendt related that the commission would take the
proposal under consideration and do some comparisons with the intention
of making a decision on the proposal. The commission will contact the
hospital personnel of their decision.
Commission members thanked Ms. Bules and Dr. Randt for attending this
meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
Discussion surrounding the upcoming police candidate testing. The
current list exhausts itself in May of 1988 and due to the lengthy
testing process plans are being made to formulate the test. Captain
Sefcek and Chief Marsh expressed a desire to have the classified ad
placed in the various newspapers limited as to qualifications. Captain
Sefcek stated that the ad, in the past, had been too broad. He also
stated that the ad should stress a vision and boundary requirement. The
secretary related that a "work copy" of the classified ad would be
forwarded to the chief's office for additions or deletions. It was
agreed that the fee to candidate would be increased from $10.00 to
$20.00 at the time of pick up of applications. The $10.00 increase could
"weed out" professional test takers.
The commission would be in contact with the police chief as this ad and
test data is developed.
NEW BUSINESS:
Copy of letter of suspension received from NOMBL General Manager, Ken
Mues. Copies distributed to commission members.
Letter received from McCann & Associates requesting the services of a
testor for a candidate living in this area that would like to qualify
for a police candidate test given in Sioux City, Iowa. Commissioners
requested the secretary to contact the testing company and relate that
the servies would be extended but there would be a charge of $25.00 per
hour for giving and monitoring this test.
Commissioners selected the date of March 5, 1988 as the first meeting on
review of the Civil Service Rules & Regulations.
Meeting adjourned at 5:50 P.M.
