r
CIVIL SERVICE MEETING - 3/24/88
Page#5
be interested in part time and if then if a full time opens
up—Madeline: Wendt: That clarifies our direction then we can move,
you know it's been so quasi, we don't know which way to go and all we're
trying to do is service to make sure the lists are available when you
need personnel - realizing that finances are always a problem but then
that's going to ease up someday.
Wendt: Let's see what else do we have; I know we have on our agenda
this - you did work with Peg on this announcement. Marsh: Is that for
the patrolman. Wendt: Yes. Marsh: We sent our suggestions. Wendt:
We're going to review that I haven't had a chance to do that yet but
I'll get back to you it looks, there seems to be, I'm just wondering if
we could cut it down to lower print. I don't know what the papers
charge these days for printing an add. Marsh: It's kind of expensive
I'm sure but hopefully the way it would be laid out there we would save
the money down the line and holding our applicants to those that should
be applying as opposed to the ones that shouldn't. Wendt: I see you
got everying in here the processing fee..O.K. of course we get into the
vision requirement which is good. Marsh: I think thats a handout with
the application. Madeline: A week ago remember we said we might have
some more up front costs but that ultimately..Wendt: Well, we'll review
that ad and get out as soon as we can because that's something we're
going to discuss and .seeing that Tom's not here I'm going to hold back
on that one just a little bit and then we'll hold another session on it
because we want to have input on it and work with it. Now we had a
discussion on this, and Peg was saying something about requiring an
understanding about the vision requirement and boundary limit. Did we
have a boundary limit on your situation? We do. Marsh: That's in
your rules. Wendt: That's in the Rules & Regulations and you're still
in that time frame. You have not changed from that particular border.
Marsh: No, and that is by the commissions Rules & Regulations. Wendt:
Of course, the vision requirement is no problem, we understand that.
Van Kuren: You don't have to be in that boundary to take an exam.
Wendt: No, I think they have to move back in within a period of time,
what is it a year? Marsh: One year. Wendt: That just makes common
sense in a way because they have to be available.. Madeline: Does the
fire department have the same boundary. Marsh: Same boundary. Wendt:
I just wanted to verify that before we publish that in the ad. We may
not publish that it may come out in the information to the applicant
that if he does get accepted he will, have to consider moving within that
boundary area. We want to make sure we're on sure footing on that one
too because there's so many things that we just pick up the pieces and
then we get tromped on and we want to make sure with you that that is
exactly what you are still functioning under and the same way with you
Chief (Van Kuren). Now, did we have anything else that you were going
to ask us particulary . Marsh: In relation to the letter that I sent
you. The first item deals with the psycholigical examination and as I
