N.O. CIVIL SERVICE MEETING - February 1990
Page #4
The Fire Chief also requested he be given a copy of the Report sent to
us by the testing company covering the test administered. He would be
interested in seeing these test results as it would assist him during
the interview process or ultimately in the final selection. The
commission notified the Fire Chief that we would contact the testing
company and quiz them on this matter. The Fire Chief related this had
been done previously; however, none of the commissioners nor the
secretary has given out Report copies during their tenure on the
commission.
Mr. Bohlmann asked the question what was the commissions viewpoint on
releasing names for background checks. Tom Stroh replied we had
discussed this earlier and presently we are awaiting word from the Law
Director (the letter was sent January 30, 1990).
Much discussion again surfaced regarding the Dispatcher test. Mr.
Wilamosky asked questions regarding the hiring of provisional employees.
CO14XISSION SECRETARY SALARY:
Discussion regarding the hourly rate for the commission secrertary based
on the fact that the work week consisted of 20 hours and that some of
this work can be done at home, i.e. typing of commission minutes and
updating certified civil service lists. Approximately 12 to 15 hours
per week is accomplished in the civil sevice office area. The secretary
informed the commission that there were work weeks consisting of 25 and
30 hours, especially during a heavy testing period, and there was no
overtime nor benefits paid.
Tom Stroh will draft a statement to be signed or initialed by the
candidate that the secretary position is for 20 hours per week.
NORTH OLM.STED BUS LINES - NOMBL
Ken Mues could not attend this meeting but wanted the commission to know
that three names still remain on the civil service certified list. The
commission secretary related that Mr. Noble, the former Service
Director, requested all personnel in the City Transportation Department
should be removed from the civil service list as they had ratified a new
contract that will preclude civil service coverage. However, Jim
Christman and David Linton, Supervisors, are to remain on the list.
(continued on page #5)
