CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION - February 1990 Page #3 CLASSIFIED ADS (con't) The secretary reported to the commissioners that a copy of our classified ad covering the entry written examination for Police Offices was forwarded to Cleveland State University, Tri -C and John Carroll for exhibiting on the billboards for viewing by those interested in law enforcement. It was previously discussed by the commissioners that it would be well to entice those candidates doing course work on the this subject. Fire Chief VanI{uren arrived at the meeting and requested to present his concerns. Tom Stroh related that the Chief would like the names from the certified list of firefighters and the names from the certified list of dispatchers as there are presently four openings for dispatchers. This is similar to the request made by the Police Chief. After discussion surrounding the list for Dispatcher it was determined there was a need for a test to_be given as the last test date was May 10, 1989. Mr. Wilamosky and Mr. BohlmanW Personnel and Service Directors entered to attend meeting. The secretary stated she would contact the people on the certified list of Radio Dispatchers and ask them to complete the Letter of Intent a civil service form,and return same in the self-addressed stamped envelope. The Fire Chief also requested -the next name off the certified list for firefighters. Of those already interviewed, or contacted, it was found they had already accepted a similar position in other cities. Mr. Wilamosky related that the City was to negotiations presently and a new entry level salary would be a consideration for Dispatchers, but this information could not be given at this meeting. However, when the new contract is accepted the commission will be advised of the new starting salary. (continued on page #4)
