EN
N.O. CIVIL SERVICE MEETING - February 1990
Page #2
NEW BUSINESS (con't)
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION SECRETARY:
Under consideration for this position presently are four candidates out
of a possible twenty that responded to the classified ad.
One of the candidates was presently employed full time at a large
Westlake company and desired to seek part-time employment to spend more
time with her family. Tom Stroh will continue to interview those who
responded to the classified ad and will make every effort to select a
candidate for this position as the secretary is planning to leave for
North Carolina to house -hunt and will be returning in ten days to two
weeks.
An item to be investigated is the possibility of securing a percentage
buy -in on the Group Hospitalization offerred to full time employees.
With respect to the above candidate it was learned that she needed to
secure some form of coverage as her husband's company does not have a
plan and it was very costly to cover two adults and two children
privately. Henry Robinson volunteered to discuss this matter with Mr.
Wilamosky and repoprt his findings to the commission.
CLASSIFIED ADS COVERING CIVIL SERVICE TESTING:
A problem with the classified ad appearing in WEST LIFE was discussed.
The ad was inserted in this publication a week prior to the specified
date. The newspaper stated that the commission will not be charged with
the cost of the premature ad; however, it did cause a rush to get the
necessary pick-up materials prepared. Henry Robinson stated he would
investigate this complaint and report back to the commission.
Also, the problem experienced with the CALL 'N POST were discussed and
in the past the commission did not receive cooperation from the
classified ad department. Also, the overall cost of placing an ad in
the CALL 'N POST was prohibitive. Henry Robinson will also check into
this matter for -the commission.
x continued on page #3)
