NORTH OLMSTED CIV1 t CE MEETING
PATE 2
Henry Robinson then mentioned that lack of women in the Police Department
is .not just a problem in North Olmsted but also in other surrounding
cities as well. Henry feels that we will eventually have to hire some
minorities one way or another.
NEW BUSINESS:
Advertising for the Police/Fire-Department positions is expensive, Civil
Service Secretary Tracy Ice called other civil service secretaries and
checked in the telephone book to find other area newspapers that are
circulated in minority areas.. Henry Robinson broughtin a spanish newspaper
so that we could review it. In the past, we have advertised in four
newspapers one of which is the Call and Post.
Per the request of the Commissioners, Tracy Ice typed up a list of the top
nine Police candidates and will take the list to the Police Department
after our meeting tonight so that Chief Sefcek can begin his interviewing.
The Civil Service Commission has receiveda copy.of a letter from Tom
Stroh dated May 23, 1990 and is asking to be reinstated back on the
commission with regard to Rule II (A) (1) and Rule II (A) (2)(b). Bob
Wendt is not sure when his case will come up with the council. Bob
has been Unavailable for a hearing but will eventually have one.
AOJOIIRNMFNT:
As there was no further matters to be brought before the commission, the
meeting adjourned at 5:20 pm:
Robert Wendt, Commissioner..
Tracy Ice, Se etary
cc:
Mayor -Boyle
Law Director Michael Gareau
Commissioner Robert Wendt
Commissioner Henry Robinson
Secretary Tracy Ice
Safety Director Ernest Gundy
Fire Chief Van Kuren
Police Chief Sefcek
President. of Council
Florence Campbell
Cuyahoga Country Library - Attn: Molly
Bus - Ken Mues
Senior Center - Christina Hlavaty
Administrative Assistant - Nancy Wlodarsky
FinancegDirec orentMr.M6urnsnway
School Board Personnel - Mr. Kline
Supt.
