• .M CIVIL SERVICE MEETING PAGE 2 Firefighter/Paramedic Physical Agility Test will be given on April 27, 1991 at the North Olmsted Middle School starting at 9:00 am. The American Physical Qualification Testing Corporation will supply the test. We will have two stuffed dummys available to use for the physical agility test. There was.some discussion that a Civil Service Commissioner should sit in on one of the oral examinations given by the Ohio Fire Chief's Organization. At an earlier date, Chief Lee of OFA said that he did not recommend that anyone sit in on these oral exams because he felt that the candidates may feel uncomfortable to answer questions the way they want to. Mr. Gundy and the Commissioners feel that we should witness one of the exams. This will be done probably at the Asst. Fire Chief's oral exam. which is to be given on March 9, 1991 Westlife Newspaper ran both of our Entrance Level Firefighter/Paramedic ads under LEGAL NOTICE. After the first ad ran under LEGAL NOTICE Tracy Ice spoke with the Westlife Representative and was told that the ad would be moved the following week under the Classified Ad section. The following week the ad was still under the LEGAL NOTICE. Bob Wendt and Henry Robinson then spoke to Mayor Boyle about this issue and they decided not to pay Westlife for these ads. Tracy Ice then sent Westlife a letter on February 19, 1991 stating this. At our meeting the Commissioners discussed if we should use Westlife in the future for advertising. It was decided that we will work with Westlife one more time and see if we can get the next ad correct. If we have problems again the Civil Service Commission will then no longer advertise in the Westlife Newspaper. NEW BUSINESS The Commission received a letter from the Mayor asking to Review the 1991 Appropriation. Bob Wendt will review and will contact the Mayor this week. The Civil Service Commission received a letter from Chief Sefcek advising us that one of the candidates who is being considered for the Entry Level Police Officer vacancy is in Saudia Arabia. The Commission had to decide whether to bypass him once or to put a freeze on his position until he returns. The Commission decided to put a freeze and not to bypass him (each candidate can be bypassed three times once they are bypassed the third time that person is automatically taken off of our certified list).
