r,r
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO
.sem
CIVIL SERVICE MEETING: July 25, 1991
PRESENT: Chairman Robert Wendt, Commissioner Henry Robinson,
Secretary Tracy Ice
GUESTS: Safety Director Ernest Gundy, Asst. Fire Chief Smith,
Chief Sefcek, Ron Wilamosky,.
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED AS READ.
OLD BUSINESS
Bob Wendt has not had a chance to get over to the Police Department
to review pricing, procedures etc. with Chief Sefcek but does plan
to get with the Chief with regard to using PRADCO's services. This
item will be removed from our agenda for the time being.
Mr. Huggins, of Insight and Attitudes, service with regard to budget
is.still being checked into.
The Civil Service Commission has decided to up -date North Olmsted's
Rules and Regulations Handbook. We received changes from the
Fire/Police Departments and the Commission plans to get together
sometime in August to up -date the Handbook. Areas of change i.e.
widen the boundaries (we need this boundary change before we send
out information with our next Police exam. which will be around
March of 1992), should points be given for marginal employees,
should more points be given for superior employees, should
candidates taking the promotional exam. have to take physical and
psychological tests?
Regarding the clerk's position in the Engineering Department - the
girl was terminated and this job is now vacant and will be posted on
all AFCME bulletin boards.
All clerical positions will eventually be classified as secretarial
positions i.e. let's just say maybe people who are clerks now will
move to a Secretary B position and people who are secretaries now
will be classified as a Secretary A position. This will cost the
City less money when it comes to testing. Civil Service needs to
get a job description and salary scale for these positions.
Discussion on whether the Zone Supervisor and Assistant Maintenance
Supervisor should be put back on the Civil Service Payroll. Tracy
Ice had asked Ron to up -date the Civil Service time sheet a while
ago and Ron Wilamosky said that Mike Gareau and himself took off
anyone who was not classified meaning if there is not a test to give
for a certain position that that person would not be classified
under civil service (a lot of people were taken off the list at this
time).
