CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO •NEOGM CIVIL SERVICE MEETING: February 27, 1992 PRESENT: Chairman Henry Robinson, Commissioner Jim Hines and Al Kovelan, Secretary Tracy Ice GUESTS: Ernest Gundy Safety Director, Chief Sefcek Chief Osterhouse MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED AS READ. OLD BUSINESS Henry Robinson said that the Correction Officer Test results went out to the candidates along with a copy of the top ten candidates applications to Chief Sefcek on January 27, 1992. The Commission set the passing score at 78. This score passed 35 and failed 20 candidates. Chief Sefcek asked the Commission to send him an additional 15 names from the Correction Officer's list since the first 10 names haven't gone too well with the background investigation. One of the candidates for the Correction Officer test (female) had called the receptionist and wanted her money back since the Police Department had to pass her over because they only have male openings at this time. Al Kovelan mentioned that the City of Westlake ran a test for male Correction Officers only. Chief Sefcek said that Westlake also gave a typing test for the Correction Officer test and only two candidates passed out of 50 so now they have to give another test without a typing test. Chief Sefcek then said that to advertise for males only that Westlake must get an UOCC from the State of Columbus. Chief Sefcek also advised the Commission that there is a good chance that he will be hiring a part-time female Correction Officer in the future. The Entry Level Written Police Examination is scheduled for March 10, 1992 at 7:00 pm at the North Olmsted High School Cafeteria. There are 476 candidates who returned their applications. Chief Sefcek said that he will give the Commission 5 Officers to thumb print the candidates. The Commission will get a portable PA system from the Middle School Library to use for this test.
