CIVIL SERVICE MEETING MINUTES
FEBRUARY 27, 1992
PAGE 2
OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Birney asked Tracy Ice to .see if we could have an Officer to
help park the candidates coming for the Police Officer test. Henry
Robinson said we do not need to have one. The following day Mr.
Birney called Tracy Ice and said that with that many people taking
the test and with Adult Education classes also going on that the
permit requires that we have someone park these candidates so Tracy
Ice call Capt. Scott and he will have someone there from 6:15 pm -
7:00 pm.
Mr. Gundy is still reviewing the list that Ron Wilamosky sent Civil
Service with regards to who has Union/Non-Union Coverage. The
Commission will then get together with the Law Director and discuss
who should/should not be classified.
The Civil Service Commission will give the Building Inspector test
on March 30, 1992 at 7:00 pm at the Community Cabin. The ads will
run from February 23, 1992 - March 10, 1992. Cut-off date is
March 11, 1992. Cooperative Personnel Services is the testing
company.
The Westlife Newspaper ran our Building Inspector ad under LEGAL
NOTICE instead of the classified section. The Commission will
decide how to handle this regarding payment.
Chief Osterhouse brought in a new vision standard with a few changes
for the Rules and Regulations Handbook for Police/Fire to be
reviewed. A copy was sent to Mike Gareau. The Commission has
agreed to the new vision standard subject to Mike's review. Tracy
Ice also called a few of our surrounding cities with regards to
vision and this is what she found: Fairview Park said that as long
as they have corrected vision with glasses or contacts that they
have no requirements that they must meet, Bay Village and Cleveland
has no standards at this time but will have one soon, Lakewood has a
20/50 in each eye corrected 20/30 in both eyes for a requirement.
NEW BUSINESS
Tracy Ice was asked to send Mike Gareau a letter asking that the
Commission continues to be informed of any changes to the Lester
case.
Kevin Dugan has called Tracy Ice with regards to clarification
to his removal. Tracy will send him a letter.
Henry Robinson said that Al Kovelan will be co-chairman to the
Commission and Jim Hines second it.
