l
CIVIL SERVICE MEETING MINUTES
JANUARY 28, 199
PAGE 3
OLD BUSINESS
Chief Sefcek also feels that the Police Department may set
requirements too. The Chief can only get so many people into the
academy a year. We may end up getting other officers from other
departments but they would have the education and experience over just
any one coming in to take the test for the first time. Chief Sefcek
feels that we will not lose officers to other cities because we have a
good reputation and he wants the best qualified people.
The Commission Secretary spoke to other surrounding cities, about the
same size as North Olmsted, to see what kind of pay the Commissioners
receive. Lakewood Commissioners receive $4,000 per year, Euclid $211
per meeting and Cleveland Heights $60 per meeting.
Mr. Gundy felt that the Commission could probably now go ahead and
start the process to give an Entry Level Secretarial II exam. He
asked that Tracy Ice check with the Mayor first.
NEW BUSINESS
Mr. Gundy asked Tracy Ice to send the Commissioners a copy of the
Mayor's hiring practices - Policy, dated 8-31-92 & letter dated
December 16, 1992.
ADJOURNMENT
As there were no other issues to be brought before the Commission, the
meeting adjourned at 5:20 pm. Our next Civil Service Meeting is
scheduled for February 25, 1993 at 4:30 pm in the CAUCUS ROOM at CITY
HALL.
Chairman, Jim Hine6 Secretary Tracy Ice
