CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION _ 5200 Dover Center Road • North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 Phone: 777-8000 Ext. 232 Fax: 777-5889 CIVIL SERVICE MEETING MINUTES: APRIL 28, 1993 PRESENT: Chairman Jim Hines, Commissioner Glenn Marks, Secretary Tracy Ice GUESTS: Chief Osterhouse MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED AS READ. OLD BUSINESS All of the Sergeant and Fire'Fighter test results went out to the candidates on March 30, 1993. The top 20 Fire -Fighter -candidates were informed that the agility test is -scheduled for May 1, 1993 at the North Olmsted High School gym. St. John & West Shore will administer the test. To try and cut the cost of advertising and to run the test in about an 8 week time period, from when the test is requested, the commission has decided to run the ads for one week instead of two and to run the ads in the following papers: Plain Dealer, Sun, Chronicle and Call and Post. At our last meeting, Ron Wilamosky gave the commission a.list of testable positions for the city. The Commission has reviewed the list and know what positions they would like to test for but this issue is on hold until we find out if we can increase our budget for 1993. The Secretarial II test is scheduled for June 75 1993 at the N. Olmsted High School cafe. at 7:00 pm. McCann & Associates will be the testing company who will provide the test. The Commission agreed that the typing test should'be given on typewriter's instead of computers. The Commission said that -for the city employees who signed a letter when they were hired stating that if a test is given within 2 years of their starting date that they would either have.to pass the test and rank in.the top 3 or just have to pass the test to remain in their job. If their time in with the city exceeds two years, then they do not need to be tested. The Dispatcher test is on hold until we hear if a new budget has been approved for Civil Service Testing. Advertisements have not gone out yet.
