CIVIL SERVICE MEETING MINUTES
OCTOBER 18, 1993
PAGE 6
The commission decided to void the typing test completed and to use
the written scores to rank. Everyone who passed the written test is
now on our certified list. Meaning those who did not show up for the
typing test will now be on our list. Therefore, Holly and Sandra will
have passed and can now remain in their job according to the Civil
Service Rules. In,the future, the job descriptions will be looked at
more closely. Minutes will be sent out shortly along with a separate
letter to each candidate telling them of their rank. Letters will
also go out to Holly and Sandra telling them that that can now remain
in their jobs.
Ronald Janetzke - said the Union is willing to work with the
Commission on changing the probation period so that we will never have
this problem again.
OLD BUSINESS
Tracy Ice called different testing companies to see if the Commission
could review some sample tests for Chief Building Inspector,
Dispatcher and Secretarial. Sample tests are here to review. The
commission took them home with them and at our November 15th meeting
we hope to have come to a decision on which test we would like to use
in the future.
Mr. Gundy returned a Dispatcher sample test and felt that this test is
a good test and that we should use it for our test in January 1994
from IPMA. The advertisement should have "knowledge in dispatcher
desirable".
Ron Wilamosky said that the Lewis Robinson's United States District
Court case is still on hold, test from CPS is still out. Progress is
slow but it's moving a long.
The Chief Building Inspector Test has been put on hold for the time
being, per Mr. Gundy.
Civil Service will make the change to the Regulation Handbook
regarding probation period to 6 months instead of 2 years. This will
be done in a few months.
Chief Sefcek had reviewed an entry level police exam. from Standard
and Associates. He returned the package to Tracy. The Chief felt
that it's a good test and that we might want to use this new testing
company when giving our next exam.
