CIVIL SERVICE <br />SEPTEMBER 18, <br />PAGE 2 <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />MEETING MINUTES <br />1995 <br />The Sergeant's written exam was given on July 31, 1995. There were 25 <br />candidates who took the test. The top eight candidates are Dave <br />Bonnell, Ron Cox, Don Dewille, Ralph Hughes, Jeff Medves, Jeff Miner, <br />Don Walling and Jim Yost. They will move on and take.the Assessment. <br />The Sergeant's Assessment test was given September 9 & 10. This was a <br />two day test. :thief Viola plans to hire the top 3 Sergeant's. <br />Those top three -candidates are Cox, Medves and Miner will be sworn -in <br />October 2, 1995 and Jim Yost has been moved to detective. <br />Entry Level Police Vacancies. Chief Viola has hired the following <br />officers over the summer: John -Downs; Michael Gasdick, Daniel Barrett <br />and Raymond Barda all four patrolman were sworn in September 5, 1995. <br />We would now like to congratulate everyone who has been hired off of <br />our eligibility list this past summer. <br />Chief Viola wanted to thank Civil <br />this past - summer giving all the <br />him since he was a new Chief. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Service for all their help during <br />exams. and working so closely with <br />Sally Benjamin is our new Commiszioner.who replaced Glenn Marks. This <br />is her first Civil Service Meeting. Welcome aboard Sally! <br />Our Chairman Jim Hines has moved. His new address is 26496 Chapel <br />Hill Drive, N. Olmsted. His phone number remains the same. <br />Ralph Hughes wanted to - review the seniority, evaluation, and scores of <br />each candidate who took the Sergeant's Assessment. Tracy Ice asked <br />the Commission what she should let him review. The Commission said <br />that he could review the "Sergeant's Assessment Result" sheet that <br />Tracy sent out but as far as the other forms go, Ralph should go and <br />see the Chief for further information, if he desires to do so.. <br />Chief Viola said that he is hoping to hire another secretary in his <br />department, if funds allow: Chief Viola asked for the next 3 eligible <br />candidates from our secretarial.li-st so that he can begin <br />interviewing. The.Commission said -that -once the hiring process has <br />been started that even if the list expires that they can still hire, <br />for that particular position. <br />
