:4-1
CIVIL SERVICE
SEPTEMBER 18,
PAGE 3.
NEW BUSINESS
MEETING MINUTES
1995
Chief Osterhouse would like to make an addition to the Rules and
Regulations Handbook stating that: "PARAMEDICS MUST HAVE MAINTAINED
APPROPRIATE CONTINUING EDUCATION TRAINING HOURS.AS MANDATED BY THE
STATE OF OHIO FOR E.M.T. - PARAMEDIC RECERTIFICATION". The
Commission said that we will make this change to the handbook.and send
copies out to people who have the handbook and ask that they replace
this page with the old page. This will be done in the next few days.
There was some discussion as to when should we give the next Fire
Exam. Jim Hines felt that the earliest we could give this test would
be between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Although, if we want top
applicants, he felt that we should wait til after Christmas to give
the test. This would also help with the budget situation for 19.95.
Therefore, the Commission decided to give the test within the first
two weeks of February 1996.
Chief Osterhouse said that he has some people eligible to retire and
that he hopes that he wouldn't have to run his department short
handed.
Chief Osterhouse mentioned that the Fire -Chief's Association is in the
process of developing an agility test which would be given at the Fire
Academy at Cuyahoga Community College. This person would go intake
the test and receive certification prior to taking the written exam.
and the candidates would have to pay for the agility themselves. This
is based on -combat challenge. This might also be something that the
commission would like -to look into. Chief Osterhouse said that we
should stay with St. John & West Shore for now but in the future we
might want to consider looking into this Fire Chief's Association
Agility Test.
When the Chief gets the paper work on the AgilityTesthe will forward
it to Civil Service. Jim Hines said that the Commission would look
into this after it has been developed.
Chief Osterhouse would also like -to
Exams. to review.
