CIVIL SERVICE MEETING MINUTES
APRIL 15, 1996
PAGE 3
NEW BUSINESS
There has been some discussion as to our City using the same doctors
for Physicals, Psychologists, Ophthalmologists and Polygraphs for both
the Police and Fire.Departments. At this time, both departments are
using different doctors for each test. No decision has been made, at
this time, we will continue this discussion at our next meeting. A
list of which doctors each department uses will be sent to the
Commission with the doctors names and addresses.
Jay Powers had called Civil Service and had asked if he could get a
ranked list from the written Fire Fighter's Exam. Jim Hines asked
that Jay send his request in,wr.i'ting to the Commission. Jay Power's
request in writing was received by Civil -Service on April 1, 1996. Jim
Hines will now speak with Mike Gareau and get his thoughts on this
issue before sending out any list.
Jim Hines will attend the County Civil Service Meeting this month. A
check for $75 will be sent to the County Commission and each
Commissioner will be signed up as a member.
Chief Osterhouse said that our Handbook states that each candidate
gets reviewed twice a year. He would like to see our Handbook changed
to annual reviews.
Both Police and Fire Departments have changed their rating system when
doing reviews.
Tracy Ice told the Commission that Amy Cornish will be the new Civil
Service Secretary starting sometime in June. The Civil Service
position will no longer be -part-time. It will now be full-time and
include being Billy Oring's assistant.
