ROLL CALL: <br />THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMAIISSION OF AUGUST 4,1997 WILL <br />NOW COMMENCE .... NEW BUSINESS: <br />1) The North Olmsted Civil Service, Commission has called this special meeting -to, discuss the results <br />of the police officers agility, test admnustered on July 26, 1997. 48 candidates were scheduled for <br />this test, with the following general results: 11 scheduled candidates did not -participate in the <br />test; 37 candidates participated ;in the test; 13 candidates passed the test; 24 candidates failed the <br />test (1 candidate failed because he sustained an injury during the first event and` could not <br />continue). With a passing scoreof 30, approximately 35%'ofthecandidates.passed, this test with <br />approximately 65% failing: The highest score possible for: each event was nines since there were <br />six events the maximum a persou `can score was 54 points. The highest scorer had 45 points and <br />the lowest had a total of 17 points*. The`average score was approximately 28 points*. <br />* The one person that incurred an injurywas not included in these figures. <br />The commissionerswere given results from the agility test.given in 1994, where 19 or 58% of the <br />candidates passed. IThe:chief noted the same chart was"used for'the 1994 test as was used for the <br />test given this year. ' He advised there -is' a problem because five candidates can be considered for <br />an opening; yet only 13 candidates are on the list for the next two years. It was noted the failure <br />rate on the agility has gone' up nearly 20% since this same test was given in 1994. Safety Director <br />Kasler advised this is a tough test and the intent Js not to make it easier, but these candidates are <br />certified and prepared. Chairman Cummings wondered what was -meant by certified. Mrs. Kasler <br />clarified, the candidates tested this year; <br />
