description for the secretaries positions I and II to help us better understand what the City is
looking for in their secretaries. Mr. Jenkins suggested computer knowledge is a must, and an
in -basket exercise is needed. Mr. Cummings said he would like to suggest that Mrs. Popa,
and Mr. Jenkins might want to think about coming up with a job description for the
secretaries entry level II position. Mr. Jenkins suggested that they would be looking into
creating some testing situations that are more relevant to the needs of the City. Mr.
Cummings suggested that either Mr. JenIdns or Personal Director J. Popa talk to Mr.
Andolek a teacher at the North Olmsted schools on what people are looking for in the
secretarial potions, as he is training today's students in that direction now. Mr. Cummings
stated I would like to be able to give a secretarial test and know that the top candidates are
qualified to fill the position. Mr. Cummings asked the clerk to invite Personal Director J.
Popa to the next regular scheduled meeting. No motion was made on this issue as the board
would like to collect more information pertaining to this issue, and will address this topic
again at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
E. Cummings motioned the Clerks of Commissions if possible in August get together with
the Personal Director for discussing secretarial testing. The motion was seconded by J.
Thomay, and unanimously approved.
X ADJOURNMENT:
J. Thomay moved to close the meeting.
Meeting adjourned 8:00 P.M.
Ernest R Cummings, Chairman
Assistant Cleik of Commissifons D. Rote
