R
the one didn't want to be Assistant Chief.. Mr. Cummings indicated by giving (2) separate
tests each candidate will get the position they want. Chief Osterhause indicted he would
prefer the Civil Service use the Ohio Fire Chiefs Testing Company. Chief Lee is the one who
usually gives the test. If the Civil Service decides to use the testing company he would like
to suggest that the oral test be the biggest part of the score. It use to be 50/50 and that
meant the oral test was (1) hour. Chief Osterhause would like to see the oral test become (2)
hours or more. He felt that it would give a better idea of the candidates ability. Captain Bak
suggested that when he took the captains test it was 40% written and 60% oral. Mr.
Cummings indicated that the board would take that into consideration. Mr. Cummings
suggested that Secretary Rote talk to Chief Lee or other testing companies about their
thoughts. Mr. Cummings then ask Captain Bak for his impute into this discussion. Captain
Bak then reiterated again what his test consisted of . He also felt that (1) hour was not
enough for the oral test. Chief Osterhouse indicated that when all was said and done he felt it
was only 45 minutes for the oral and it just isn't enough. He would like the standard set
before we give the test.
X ADJOURNMENT:
E. Cummings moved to close the meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 8:15pm.
Ernest R.
