A <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!" <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />NOTES —June 19, 2000 <br />7:00 PM <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Thomay called the meeting to order at 7:15pm <br />PRESENT: Chairman J. Thomay and Board members L. Zolar and P. Farrell. <br />ALSO PRESENT: Fire Chief Bak and Asst. Civil Service Secretary K. Fallon <br />II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: The Civil Service minutes of May 22,2000 have <br />been submitted for approval. <br />Mr. Thomay motioned to approve the minutes of the May 22,2000 meeting as <br />submitted and written. The motion was seconded by L. Zolar and unanimously <br />approved. Motion Carried. <br />III. REPORTS: <br />There were 3 correspondences sent and one received. <br />Mr. Thomay motioned to accept the correspondences as submitted. The motion <br />was seconded by L. Zolar and unanimously approved. Motion Carried. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />A) The Board needs to set the passing scores for the Fire Fighter entry level written <br />and agility exams. <br />Mr. Thomay questioned what the passing score was for past tests. The Clerk <br />indicated that the passing score for the last test was 70%. He indicated that since <br />we are using a different company, the Board is not sure how complicated the test <br />would be. Mr. Thomay indicated that he is inclined to go with the 70 % as the <br />passing score. Ms. Zolar and Chief Bak are in agreement. <br />Ms. Zolar motioned to accept 70% as the passing score for the Fire Fighter entry <br />level written and agility test. The motion was seconded by Mr. Thomay and <br />unanimously approved. Motion Carried. <br />IV. NEW BUSINESS: <br />A.) Chapters 3, 4, 5 and 6 need to be reviewed for possible changes <br />Chief Bak reviewed page 1, Rule 1 Section C, "Should an eligibility list expire <br />subsequent to the start of the interview process, the Appointing Authority may <br />continue to hire from the expired eligibility list for that particular position." <br />
