CITE' OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!" <br />SPECIAL MEETING OF <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />MINUTES — AUGUST 7, 2000 <br />7:00 PM <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman, Thomay called the meeting to order at 7:15pm. <br />PRESENT: Chairman, J. Thomay, Board Members, L. Zolar and P. Farrell. <br />ALSO PRESENT: Civil Service Secretary, D. Rote. <br />II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: The Civil Service minutes of July 17, 2000 have been submitted for <br />approval. <br />J. Thomay motioned to approve the July 17, 2000, Civil Service .minutes as written. The motion <br />was seconded by P. Farrell and unanimously approved. <br />III. REPORTS: <br />A) There were 2 correspondences received and 4 sent. <br />Mr. Thomay reviewed each of the correspondences that were sent and received. <br />P. Farrell motioned to approve the correspondences as submitted. The motion was seconded by J. <br />Thomay and unanimously approved. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: No items. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />A) The Commission needs to make a ruling on the following applications: <br />1. David C. Barber, classes start date August 21, 2000. <br />2. Kevin Scott, paramedic starting class date sometime in December, 2000. <br />3. David A. Swope, starting class date after August 17, 2000. <br />4. Daniel J. Rogers, starting class date September, 2000. <br />5. Scott Brumagm, starting class date August 24, 2000. <br />6. Michael Mohnickey, starting class date August 24, 2000. <br />7. Jason Meek, starting class date August 24, 2000. <br />8. John Oneill, starting class date August 24, 2000. <br />Mr. Thomay indicated that the Law Department reviewed the issue of allowing the above applicants <br />to take the entry-level fire fighters examination. The Law Department believes that the. <br />Commission should liberally allow the applicants to take the test if by the testing date they can <br />show that they are enrolled in a state certified paramedic program. Mr, Farrell and Mrs. Zolar <br />indicated that they agreed with the law department. <br />J. Thomay motioned that the following candidates be allowed to take the August 17, 2000 entry- <br />level. firefighters examination. As long as they can show that they are an ongoing student or that, <br />they are registered in a paramedic program. Those candidates are as follows: David C. Barber, <br />David Swope, Daniel J. Rogers, Michael Mohnickey, Jason "Meek. and John Oneill. The motion was <br />
