a
M
surgery. He said to do the revisions right, they would need a professional to look at that portion of
the book. He indicated that budget constraints may prevent that from happening. Mr. Thomay
said that perhaps they should not address it all at once. They could cover one section at a time.
They should have the time to do it. Mrs. Kilbane suggested that the board members consider
taking a certain number of pages to review between tonight and the next meeting in order to get
the process started. Mr. Thomay said they will need to review the notes that were made along the
way because there were areas where they encountered difficulty. Mrs. Martin pointed out the
board members have a copy of the rules from Bay Village and Westlake. She indicated she will
contact the civil service commission in Rocky River to obtain a copy of their book. Mr. Thomay
said they should take a look at those books as well. They can discuss what was done previously at
the next meeting. They can take it from there and set a schedule. Mr. Thomay indicated when the
review process was started before, he sent a memo to the police chief and the fire chief. Mrs.
Kilbane said she will find the memo and any previous notes to assist in the review process. There
was a brief discussion of possibly canceling the February meeting if there are no items on the
agenda other than the handbook. The board members would then have more time to review the
material.
NEW BUSINESS:
ADJOURNMENT: J. Thomay adjourned the meeting at 7:35 p.m.
Thomay, Chairman — Date Annie Kilbane, Civil Service Secretary
