Fire Chief Klecan suggested Lieutenants exam weights be set as written <br />worth 60% and oral 40%. Further discussion as to what motions are required to get the lieutenants <br />exam stared took place. Mr. O'Malley suggested the commission proceed on the basis that the <br />Civil Service commission is making motions to direct their secretary to proceed in the engagement <br />of Ramsey & Associates. Separately move to have the Safety Director petition Council to authorize <br />the contract and funding for the examination. That the legislation be passed on an emergency <br />measure and under suspension of the rules. Once the Assistant Fire Chief is appointed, the <br />commission will have 60 -days to conduct the Lieutenants exam. <br />J. Thomay motion to use Ramsey & Associates Testing Company to administer the Fire <br />Lieutenants promotional examination. R. Giesser seconded the motion, which was <br />unanimously approved. Motion Carried <br />J. Thomay motion to have Safety Director Jesse request the required funds be provided by <br />Council on an emergency measure. Furthermore, that he also submit legislation requesting <br />the Mayor to be allowed to inter into a contract with Ramsey & Associates for the Fire <br />Lieutenant examination. R. Giesser seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. <br />J. Thomay motion that there will be a written and oral examination. The written passing test <br />score will be 70% and all those scoring 70% or better will move forward to take part in the <br />oral assessment. The written exam will be worth 60% and the oral assessment will be worth <br />40%. The total passing score for written and oral assessment combined will be set at 70%. Thomay motion to set dates of written test for October 2, 2003 with an alternate date of <br />October 3, 2003 the oral assessment to be conducted October 16, 2003 with an alternate date <br />of October 17 2003. R Giesser seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. <br />Motion carried. <br />Mr. O'Malley suggested the commissioners give alternate dates for the tests in case the testing <br />company is not available. It would be appropriate for the Commission to give the Secretary the <br />ability to set testing dates with Ramsey & Associates as long as they are before the commissions <br />deadline of October 20, 2003. Mrs. Giesser suggested allowing the secretary the ability to set <br />testing dates before the deadline date of October 20, 2003. <br />J. Thomay motion to ermit Ramsey & Associates to administer the written examination on <br />October 2"a, 3rd 5th. 6' of 2003 and that the Oral examination be given on either October 16th, <br />17th or 19th 2003. R. Giesser seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. Motion <br />carried. <br />Mr. Thomay indicated that they would make the motions on the number of books to be used in the <br />written exam. Mr. O'Malley suggested in accordance to Rule III a motion be made to notify the <br />appointing authority to prepare and submit the books to be used for the examination not less than 10 <br />days prior to the posting deadline. <br />R. Giesser motion to have 5 books used for the written examination and for the secretary to <br />send notice to Safety Director Jesse requesting the list of books be submitted not less than ten <br />days prior to list being posted. J. Thomay seconded the motion, which was unanimously <br />approved. Motion Carried. Mrs. Rote indicated that the recommended selection of books was <br />0 <br />
