r R Giesser motion to have a 5 -day protest pursuant to the provisions of state law 124.45 The <br />first protest period will run October 7, 2003 through October 13, 2003. A 10 -day protest <br />period in accordance to Civil Service Handbook Rule IN will also be held. The second protest <br />period will run October 22, through October 31, 2003. J. Thomay seconded the motion, which <br />was unanimously approved. <br />Note: Mrs. Rote reviewed that the commissioners would have to hold meetings on October 20, <br />2003, October 22, 2003 November 10, 2003 and November 24, 2003 to follow the protest cycles. <br />•S Commissioners need to rule on a protest period for the Fire Lieutenants examination: <br />John Thomay motion to have the Oral Assessment on November 13th & 14th depending on the <br />number of candidates. R. Giesser seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. <br />Mayor Musial indicated that the question as to whether or not the position of animal warden falls <br />within the Civil Service category has come up. He questioned if in fact if the animal warden <br />position fell within Civil Service what protection would he/she have. 'Mr. Thomay indicated that <br />the commission would need to research the topic as well as other positions. Mr. O'Malley <br />suggested that the Commissioners have the clerk place the issue on their agenda for the next <br />meeting. Mrs. Rote apologized to the commissioners for not placing Mayor Musial question on <br />their docket but she thought that they could only address specific items, which calls for the special <br />meeting to called to begin with. Mr. Thomay indicated that it would be on the next agenda to <br />address. <br />VI.
