CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br />MAYOR'S CONFERENCE ROOM <br />NOVEMBER 29, 2004 <br />MINUTES <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairwoman Giesser called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. <br />Present: Chairwoman R. Giesser and Board Members; M Ubaldi and W. Hohmann <br />Also Present: Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley and Civil Service Secretary D. Rote <br />II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br />The Civil Service minutes dated November 8, 2004 have been submitted for approval. <br />R. Giesser moved to approve the November 8, 2004 Civil Service minutes as corrected. M. <br />Ubaldi seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. <br />III. CORRESPONDENCE: <br />There were (7) pieces of correspondence received and (29) pieces of correspondence sent out by Civil <br />Service. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />A: Review test results for Entry -Level Police examination and motion on extra credit. <br />The clerk reviewed that out of the 81 applicants seeking extra credit for military or education points <br />there are 9 submittals which need to be reviewed by the commission. The commissioners spent an <br />hour or more going through those applications requesting military credit which were not clear to the <br />clerk. The following are motions made on applications requesting military credit: <br />R. Giesser moved to deny Daniel Bullitt all military credit for the reason that the <br />documentation submitted does not indicate whether or not his discharge was honorable or not. <br />M. Ubaldi seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. Denied Military Credit. <br />M. Ubaldi moved to deny Bryan Carney all credit for active military credit for the reason that <br />the documentation submitted DD 2-14 and letter from Marine Captain does not provide the <br />commission with sufficient means to discern active service time beyond the time frame shown <br />on the DD 2-14 which does not qualify the applicant to extra credit. W. Hohmann seconded <br />the motion which was unanimously approved. Denied Military Credit. <br />M. Ubaldi moved to deny Jared Prill additional credit for active military service on the <br />.grounds that the applicant's DD 2-14 indicated a total active service below the minimum <br />requirement for extra credit. W. Hohmann seconded the motion, which was unanimously <br />approved. Denied Military Credit. <br />R. Giesser moved to deny Lisette Gonzalez any military credit on the grounds that there is <br />nothing to substantiate her claim for military credit. M. Ubaldi seconded the motion, which <br />was unanimously approved. Denied Military Credit. <br />R. Giesser moved to deny military credit to Paul Lough on the grounds that there is no DD 2- <br />14 or equivalent documentation nor any evidence of an honorable discharge. M. Ubaldi <br />seconded the motion which was unanimously approved. Denied Military Credit. <br />
