Service to the Personnel department. There was further discussion about assisting directors and the <br />title of assistant director. Mrs. Farver said she will have a report for the next meeting. Mrs. Giesser <br />indicated the matter will be tabled until the next meeting at which time action will be taken on the <br />request. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Chairperson Giesser mentioned there was correspondence not included in the previous <br />correspondence report. She received a memo from the Charter Review Commission. Mrs. Rote <br />explained that the Charter Review Commission contacted all boards and commission members to <br />seek input in its review of the Charter. There was discussion about submitting comments to the <br />Charter Review Commission and it was agreed a letter will be drafted by Mr. O'Malley with Mrs. <br />Kilbane's assistance. Mr. O'Malley said they can invite the Charter Review Commission to look at <br />the issue of classified and unclassified employees. Mr. Hohmann agreed there should be <br />communication with the Charter Review Commission. Mrs. Giesser mentioned a home rule <br />provision or lack of it in the Charter. She added a memo would be appropriate and they can discuss it <br />at the next meeting. She said there is a deadline of February 4th but the Charter Review Commission <br />has made it clear they are open to future communication as well. <br />• Update commissioners on the number of police agility certifications yet to be received <br />The secretary informed the commission there are 114 outstanding agility certifications for the police <br />entry level examination. <br />• Projected Civil Service budget for 2005 <br />Mrs. Farver in her capacity as Director of Personnel & Administrative Services, and now with the charge of <br />overseeing the Civil Service Commission, presented her proposed budget for 2005. She indicated the budget <br />the commissioners previously received was a preliminary version provided in the old format by the former <br />secretary and what she is presenting now will go before the Mayor. There was discussion about salaries, <br />overtime, and the numbers for projected testing in 2005. The board members discussed the variety of testing <br />scenarios that could occur, which include administering a captain test for the Fire Department and possible <br />promotional exams for the Police Department. There was a brief discussion of the "drop program". <br />R. Giesser made a motion to accept the budget for 2005 as submitted by C. Farver, in the <br />amount of $35,213.00. The motion was seconded by M. Ubaldi and unanimously approved. <br />VI. ADJOURNMENT: R. Giesser made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:25 p.m. The motion was <br />seconded by W.
