0 I. II. IV. CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING MAYOR'S CONFERENCE ROOM MINUTES - FEBRUARY 26, 2007 7:00 P.M. ROLL CALL: Chairman M. Ubaldi called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm PRESENT: M. Ubaldi, W. Hohmann, and K. Zolar ALSO PRESENT: Human Resources Director C. Farver, Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, Civil Service Secretary D. Eccleston DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: The Civil Service minutes dated January 22, 2007 have been submitted for approval. Mr. Ubaldi indicated a couple of changes on page two of the minutes. Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to accept the amended minutes. Mr. Hohmann seconded the motion and unanimously approved. COMMUNICATIONS: There were 29 items of correspondence received and 17 items of correspondence sent out by the Civil Service Commission. OLD BUSINESS: Address Business Related to the Promotional Examination for Assistant Fire Chief Mr. Ubaldi indicated the secretary was able to retain some dates from the testing company for the examination. The written portion of the examination will be on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 and the oral assessment will be on Saturday, April 21, 2007. There are four (4) Captains and six (6) Lieutenants in the Fire Department. There is a possibility of not enough interest from the Captains to take the examination; therefore, it may have to open up to the Lieutenants. Mr. Ubaldi suggested sending a letter to the Captains and another modified letter to the Lieutenants in the event that there is not enough Captains to take the test. The passing score for the written examination will be 70%; the written is 25% weighted; the oral assessment is 75% weighted. The list of references will be faxed tomorrow from the testing company. Chief Klecan will review this list and make his recommendations. A general discussion followed regarding time span; revised written test dates; protests from the last written examination; reference list; extra credit and seniority points; agreement cost; top 5 candidates participates in the oral assessment. Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to accept final details for the Promotional Assistant Fire Chief Examination. Mr. Hohmann seconded the motion and unanimously approved.
