Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to amend the language as in the aforementioned outline for Rule <br />II, Entry Level Qualifications, Section 9, Building Inspector Examination. Ms. Zolar <br />seconded the motion and unanimously approved. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Review the Promotional Assistant Fire Chief Examination Results <br />Mr. Ubaldi addressed the Commission with a recap for the Promotional Assistant Fire Chief <br />Examination results. There were thirty-four (34) Firefighters invited to participate in the written <br />and oral assessment for Assistant Fire Chief. At a previous meeting, the Civil Service Commission <br />set the passing score at 70% or better. Fifteen (15) Firefighters accepted and nineteen (19) declined. <br />Thirteen (13) Firefighters participated in the written examination; two (2) did not attend. Seven (7) <br />Firefighters passed and six (6) Firefighters did not pass. Four (4) Firefighters participated in the <br />oral assessment. The four (4) Firefighters that participated in the oral assessment were David <br />Boatman, Todd Kirkpatrick, James Miller and Jack Sevier. The ranking of the candidates are as <br />follows: rank #1, Todd Kirkpatrick, received Thoroughly Competent — 2 points and has 10 years of <br />service — 7.6 points with a final score of 101.77%; rank #2, David Boatman, received Thoroughly <br />Competent — 2 points and has 14 years of service —10 points with a final score of 96.53°/x; rank #3, <br />James Miller, received Thoroughly Competent — 2 points and has 21 years of service —10 points <br />with a final score of 91.82%; rank #4, Jack Sevier, received Acceptable —1 point and has 21 years <br />of service —10 points with a final score of 87.05%. <br />Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to establish an eligible list for the position of Assistant Fire Chief. <br />The candidates are Todd Kirkpatrick, David Boatman, James Miller and Jack Sevier. Mr. <br />Hohmann seconded the motion and unanimously approved. <br />Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to certify Todd Kirkpatrick to the appointing authority for the <br />position of Assistant Fire Chief. Mr. Hohmann seconded the motion and unanimously <br />approved. <br />Mr. Kirkpatrick addressed the Commission and inquired about promotions, demotions, probationary <br />period, unable to perform duties in the new position, abolishment of the Assistant Fire Chief's <br />position. Chief Klecan responded to the questions. The probationary period is one (1) year. If a <br />person is unable to perform the duties within the probationary period, that person may revert back to <br />his last position, providing there is an opening. If an abolishment should happen, that employee's <br />seniority rank will return to his last position and the employee with the lowest seniority would be <br />bumped. The Civil Service Commission is under no obligation to give guidance or counsel. The <br />Assistant Fire Chief is a non -bargaining position and there are no assurances provided tonight <br />concerning the Collective Bargaining Agreement. <br />Review Entry -Level Police Eligible List Agility Certifications <br />An inquiry was made regarding official request to have names removed from the Entry -Level <br />Firefighters Eligible Lists. There is no request at this time. <br />A letter concerning the Agility Certification the Commission used last testing cycle to notify <br />candidates on the Police and Fire Entry -Level Eligible Lists was reviewed. Modifications were <br />made. The deadline for Entry -Level Police was June 18, 2007 and Entry -Level Fire is June 25, <br />
