CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL CAUCUS ROOM <br />MINUTES -- APRIL 19, 2010 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />I. ROLL CALL: Chairman M. Ubaldi called the meeting to order at 7:28 PM <br />PRESENT: M. Ubaldi and K. Zolar <br />ALSO PRESENT: Human Resources Director C. Farver, Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, <br />and Civil Service Secretary D. Eccleston <br />II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br />The Civil Service minutes dated March 15, 2010 have been submitted for approval. <br />The Chairman amended the meeting date to read 2010 instead of 2009. <br />Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to accept the amended minutes. Ms Zolar seconded the motion <br />and unanimously approved. <br />III. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />There were 40 items of correspondence received and 49 items of correspondence sent out by the <br />Civil Service Commission. <br />The Chairman indicated that Ms. Dargaj submitted her resignation as a Civil Service Commissioner <br />and hopes that the Administration can provide a replacement as soon as possible. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Discuss Entry Level Patrol Officer Examination <br />The business the Commission has at this meeting comes from a correspondence from the former <br />Safety Director, Lisa Thomas, suggesting that the Commission begin the process to hold an Entry - <br />Level Examination for the position of Patrol Officer. The Commission would like to square away <br />some larger aspects of the picture so the Commission can move forward and hopefully set this in <br />motion at the next meeting. <br />First of all, the Commission will have a written examination and an agility test. It is the <br />understanding based on the conversation with the Law Department that the Commission is able to <br />immediately reach out and use Ramsey & Associates. The scheduled dates that will be presented are <br />based on the schedules that have been used in the past, practically in 2007. Advertisement would be <br />after the May meeting so that everything is put into a public record of the Commission's decisions <br />and also confer with Pat Ramsey and contract with her.
