Wednesday, June 16"'; the application evaluation will be on June 21 ", our regular scheduled
meeting; and the written examination would be Saturday, June 26th. A general discussion
commenced regarding the secretary's vacation period will be during the examination. A suggestion
was made that Lisa Kidd would be available to help as well as some additional help. Ramsey &
Associates' availability will be confirmed. This is a compressed list of dates to get the process
completed as quickly as the Commission can and all depends on Pat Ramsey's availability. Tri -C
still administers the agility examination in relatively the same format. A list of dates for the Agility
Examination is as follows: May 16th, June 13th, July 18"', August 15th .. , and they may be able to
accommodate the Civil Service Commission with special dates if needed. A suggestion was made to
include the Agility testing dates with the application. The Agility Certification must be presented
within 90 days of date of the Commission's letter notifying the applicant of their passage of the
written examination. The availability of St. Clarence's will be confirmed. The cap for accepting
applications was 200. 450 application packets were duplicated; 273 applications were picked up;
178 applications were returned; 13 applications were rejected; 165 applicants took the examination
and were held at St. Clarence. The only thing that remains is the appropriations and the contract.
Ms. Farver indicated that she will discuss this with the Finance Director and if the need arises, she
will find additional funds. The current annual appropriation is $15,000 and with the Promotional
Police Lieutenant and Sergeant's examination along with the Entry -Level Patrol Officers test, the
Commission should have enough to cover all three (3) examinations. Once this information has
lcon sunt-tu-Pai Rarrrscy, t1ic City wmrlea le to drawhklrwas-fbr the
promotional testing and have that ready by the May meeting. An addendum to the primary contract
will need to be completed to specifically address entry-level exam. It would not be a separate
contract. The Commission has Pat Ramsey under contract within the time frame and the monetary
limitation and will need the specifics of what is expected from the testing company for the Entry -
Level examination. A contact call will be made to Pat Ramsey inquiring about her availability and
specifics; the Law Department, once the information is received from Ramsey & Associates, can
have the addendum completed before May's meeting and invite Pat Ramsey to our May meeting.
The only other item that the Commission needs to complete is to update the application packet. The
letter from Tri -C was something that could have easily skipped over because in the past the
Commission has had these almost explicable failures to adhere to the agility test requirement. A
packet from Tri -C was distributed to the applicants after the written examination. Maybe in
addition to the packet, Tri -C would like to include a flyer that lays their procedures out and then the
same or similar document would be handed out at the test. The Commission offers extra credit for
veterans and the DD214's are reviewed during the evaluation period.
VI. ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to adjourn at 7:47 PM. Ms. Zolar seconded
the motion and unanimously approved.
5
Michael Ubaldi, Civil Service Chairman
0
Date
to
Donna Eccleston, Civil Service Secretary
