CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF MARCH 20, 2019 <br />6:30PM <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:31 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Keith Behrendt, Jackie Chavez -Anderson, Sue Collander, Wilma Kepperley, Annie <br />Kilbane, Stephanie Procter, Leah Rogalski-Davis, Laura Simna <br />Absent: Janelle Zauner <br />Staff. Planner James Aspery <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Jackie moved to approve the Arts Commission minutes of February 20, 2019, seconded by <br />Stephanie, motion passed unanimously. <br />REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES <br />Springvale Coffeehouse I February 21 <br />Leah said the turnout was lower than usual, with about 35 guests in attendance. Keith stated that <br />the event needs to offer more robust food offerings and needs to be communicated to a larger <br />audience. Wilma thought the low attendance could be from the event being held on a weeknight. <br />Jackie suggested that the event can be refreshed by hosting it outside, perhaps on Springvale's <br />new patio, and adding a food truck. It was agreed by all a future event would be sought for <br />Friday, September 20th or 27th. Jackie will talk to Springvale staff to gather dates and report back <br />to the Commission. <br />Yoga in the Park <br />Leah said there were just over 30 people at the March 2nd event, but the March 2018 event had <br />over 70 attendees. Stephanie noted that other communities are starting to offer similar free <br />classes, with Leah adding that she has also seen a large amount of classes pop up recently. Keith <br />mentioned that the weather might have had something to do with lower turnout, or perhaps it was <br />caused by the confusion between the Cabin and the Park. Jackie suggested that website <br />promotion convey the same information across the entire website to avoid confusion or missing <br />information. Flyers have been posted at the Rec Center and have been shared across social <br />media. Jackie suggested that a banner be created and installed at the Gazebo advertising <br />upcoming events in the park. Kelly Patrick, the instructor, has confirmed that she will continue <br />using her own sign -in sheets for her insurance requirements. James will work on getting seed <br />packets for promotion at the April 6th event and for the month of April at the Senior Center. <br />Mayor's Art Show I March 25 <br />Leah confirmed that artwork hanging will begin at 10:00am at City Hall on Friday the 22"a <br />James confirmed that there are 35 pieces in total, including temporary ceramic pieces for the <br />show on Monday. Event set up will begin at 4:30pm on Monday the 25th with the event starting <br />at 6:OOpm. Sue is finishing up the decorative palettes and Melanie Reilly will be bringing the <br />
