project planning begins this spring, with other beautification ideas potentially taken up at a later <br />date. Keith and Wilma volunteered to serve on the project steering committee, with Stephanie <br />agreeing to serve as a substitute. Leah encouraged the group to keep thinking of other <br />beautification ideas looking ahead to the rest of the year. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Party in the Park <br />Leah kicked off event planning for Party in the Park 2019 scheduled for Saturday, July 27th from <br />5:00-9:OOpm. Leah and Keith requested that the call for artists reach a wider audience to achieve <br />more diversity among performers. It was agreed that Laura will send this out to her contacts and <br />any applicable listservs to spread the word. Leah will coordinate food trucks. It was agreed by all <br />that Fat Head's is the desired brewery due to their professionalism and popularity from last year. <br />Keith offered to create a revised beer garden area for inclusion with the liquor permit. He and <br />James will work on this before the April meeting to come up with a workable site plan. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Glenn Band <br />Dale Mortensen from the Glenn Band spoke to the group about performing at upcoming <br />Commission events. The band is comprised of staff from the NASA Glenn Research facility and <br />performs primarily concert band music using woodwind instruments. Dale discussed the band's <br />setup requirements, past musical performances and the members' focus on promoting STEM <br />educational objectives through music.
