CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF MAY 15, 2019 <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Keith Behrendt, Jackie Chavez -Anderson, Sue Collander, Wilma Kepperley, Annie <br />Kilbane, Leah Rogalski-Davis, Laura Simna, Janelle Zauner <br />Absent: Stephanie Procter <br />Staff: Planner James Aspery <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Jackie moved to approve the Arts Commission minutes of April 17, 2019, seconded by Annie, <br />motion passed unanimously. <br />REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES <br />Earth Fair <br />Jackie said that she appreciated the Commission taking care of the Senior Center and <br />Community Cabin during the event on April 28th and noted that she heard many positive things <br />about the petting zoo, bubble show and magic show. Keith thought the indoor music went over <br />well and noted that there should be better signage connecting the Senior Center and Cabin. Leah <br />said that the rain plan worked well, even though it was the first time needing to use it, and noted <br />that the food vendors did decent. Cabin market vendors did well. It was agreed by all that while <br />the turnout was lower for this event, it was likely attributed to the cold and wet weather leading <br />up to the event. Laura felt more comfortable with the indoor layout as a parent of a toddler. The <br />group discussed whether or not the scavenger hunt idea was missing at this event. Janelle asked <br />how the face painter fared, with everyone agreeing that they still did very well and stayed busy <br />the entire time. Leah thanked everyone for the team effort and is looking forward to the 5th <br />annual event in 2020. <br />Yoga in the Park <br />Jackie stated that the attendance was lower than normal at the May 4th event, with 45 people in <br />attendance, but added that the event is still an important opportunity to bring people together and <br />get face time with members of the community. The return on investment for the yoga series is <br />worth the $80 per month based on the direct contact that members have with attendees. Jackie <br />added that the sound system is now being stored in her office. Ideas for handouts were discussed, <br />with James agreeing to work on a rack card to distribute to guests at the July event. <br />Party in the Park I July 27 <br />Leah shared her excitement over the publicity that the event is gaining on social media, noting <br />that the Facebook event is currently the most popular Commission -organized event in recent <br />years. The musician selection process was determined and the Commission agreed to send Laura <br />their ten favorite artists so that a list of final artists can be created and contacted ahead of the <br />May 31 st deadline. Four performers will be selected to perform at the event for a total <br />
