CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF JUNE 19, 2019 <br />6:30PM <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Keith Behrendt, Sue Collander, Wilma Kepperley, Annie Kilbane, Stephanie Procter, <br />Laura Simna <br />Absent: Jackie Chavez -Anderson, Leah Rogalski-Davis, Janelle Zauner <br />Staff. Planner James Aspery <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Annie moved to approve the Arts Commission minutes of May 15, 2019, seconded by Sue, <br />motion passed unanimously. <br />REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES <br />_Yoga in the Park <br />James shared that an estimated 35-40 guests attended the June 1St class outside at the Gazebo, <br />according to Tiffany Hunt from the Senior Center. The group discussed different methods of <br />spreading the word to boost turnout. Wilma suggested sending each month's flyer for <br />distribution to Community Council members. Sue asked about using the Park sign or creating <br />small handouts if full multi -event rack cards are not a possibility. Several members also noted <br />that there are now many similar events being offered by local businesses such as Great Northern <br />Mall, Frostville Farmers Market, the Westside Flea and more. It was agreed by all that the $80 <br />monthly investment is still worthwhile even if turnout numbers are down from past seasons. <br />Party in the Park I July 27 <br />James said the five selected food trucks are confirmed for the event; he is working to make sure <br />that they all have valid insurance certificates ahead of the event. Performers have been contacted <br />and are in the process of submitting their required paperwork. The Facebook event has 6,309 <br />people interested, with more people joining by the hour, so this year's event is looking to be <br />much larger than in 2018. A $50 ad boost in July will likely increase event visibility even more. <br />The Fat Head's contact is meeting with the brewer and general manager on Friday to assess beer <br />availability and confirm keg pricing. Keg pricing was noted as unusually low in 2018, so the <br />Commission should expect to pay slightly more per keg this year. Increased turnout should help <br />offset this cost if the pricing stays at five dollars per pour. If Fat Head's cannot provide the exact <br />same draft list as last year, they will offer similar beers. <br />Stephanie asked about trash control at the event. James will confirm that the Rec Center will <br />bring the large games and trash cans in addition to moving picnic tables in the beer garden area. <br />The Commission should expect to replace bags during the event and bundle up bags afterwards; <br />gloves will be provided. Keith asked that the Community Cabin restrooms be open if possible, in <br />addition to the usual outside restrooms. Laura suggested using a stamp in lieu of wristbands. She <br />agreed to find a suitable stamp from her personal supplies if the City can supply ink pads. Sue <br />
