and James will discuss specific volunteer needs for the check-in table before the next meeting,
but members are expected to take shifts pouring beer or checking identification if they are
attending. A sign-up sheet will be circulated prior to the event.
Mayor's Art Show
Sue provided an overview of the June 13th brainstorming meeting. The vision for the new and
improved event is to host a weekend event at Old Town Hall in February 2020 where students
and the general public can mingle and enjoy the artwork in an inviting space. Other event
enhancement ideas include having the show juried, offering live music with more substantial
refreshments and featuring a multimedia presentation showing various artwork running during
the show. Wilma asked that the City provide assistance in moving the mobile art racks currently
stored in Frostville.
Holiday Decorations
Annie shared that the committee will be meeting in coming weeks to begin narrowing down
lighting and decoration items for purchasing. After discussion over the event start time, it was agreed that performances will
start at 7:30 PM and end at 10:00 PM. Keith noted that the high school football game will be
starting at 7:00 PM, so the traffic on Butternut Ridge Road should be mostly cleared out by the
time the event begins at 7:30 PM. He also noted that the new stadium's lower elevation will
avoid sound interference from the band during open mic performances. James will contact
Springvale staff to gather information on tables, chairs and bar accommodations for the pavilion
and check on clubhouse availability in the event of inclement weather. Laura will seek a host that
is able emcee the event and operate the sound system. She has several musicians in mind who
run successful open mic night events around the area and can likely offer both services. It was
agreed by all that the budget for a combined host and sound person should not exceed $300.
Wilma asked about leaving performance slots open for walk-up performers, with the group
deciding to continue booking acts ahead of time to control the quantity, quality and diversity of
performances. Annie suggested the name "Friday Night Mics," which was unanimously
approved.
DISCUSSION
Community Council Update
Wilma shared information on Homecoming patron ads and invited members to contribute. She
also shared that the North Olmsted United Methodist Church is offering a free community meal
on Thursday, June 27th at 4:30 PM.
