19-14923; Rosemarie Worthington; 5176 West Park Drive <br />Representatives: Louis & Rosemarie Worthington, owners; Allan Scott Davis, 5194 West Park <br />Drive; Kevin & Linda Barrett, 5175 Evergreen Drive <br />Proposal consists of a driveway extension. Property is zoned B -One Family Residence. <br />The following variances are requested: <br />1. A 12 ft. variance for driveway extension beyond a garage; code requires that a driveway <br />extend no further than the most distant point of the garage from the access street, applicant <br />shows driveway extending 12 ft. beyond rear of garage, Section 1135.02(B)(2)(d). <br />2. A 2 ft. variance for width of a driveway section adjacent to an attached garage; code allows <br />for a driveway section no wider than 12 feet to be extended in a side or rear yard adjacent to <br />one side of a detached or attached garage, applicant shows 14 ft. width; 1135.02(B)(3)(b). <br />3. A 6 ft. variance for width of driveway for an attached garage, code allows driveways <br />providing access to an attached garage to be no wider than 24 ft., applicant shows 30 ft.; <br />Section 1135.02(B)(2)(c). <br />Ms. Lieber stated that the applicant is proposing to expand their driveway. The existing driveway <br />will be widened to 30 feet, where code permits 24 feet when serving an attached garage. While a <br />driveway section is permitted adjacent to the garage, the proposed section is 2 feet wider than the <br />12 feet permitted. A section will also be extended beyond the garage by 12 feet. Mr. <br />Worthington said he had eight trees removed from the property. They are trying to improve the <br />property and it is difficult to grow grass in that area since it is a low point on the property. Mr. <br />Davis has reviewed the plans and is not opposed to them. Mr. Barrett said the applicants have <br />made extensive improvements to the property since they moved in and had no objections. Mr. <br />Papotto asked about changing the grade of the driveway. Mr. Worthington explained that there is <br />a 7 foot drop from the left to right side of his property and it slopes towards his garage. He would <br />like to put in a retaining wall in addition to having the water flow to his back yard. Mr. Papotto <br />thought the proposal will be an improvement to the property. <br />Mr. Allain moved, seconded by Mr. Papotto, to approve the following variances for 19- <br />14923; Rosemarie Worthington; 5176 West Park Drive: <br />1.
