History Tour
Mr. Neville said the History Tour was going to be part of the Pioneer Days event through the
Olmsted Historical Society. However, for the next event, OHS will be including the gas engine
show in the event so the event name will change. The committee drafted responses to some of
the grant application questions. Mr. Aspery said the grant application is due September 4th. City
Council is in the process of approving the project budget and allowing the grant application to be
submitted. OHS will lead the event and the City will supplement to help cover the tour costs.
Centennial Home Program
Mr. Aspery reviewed the handout covering the program policy decisions and properties requiring
further research. The guideline reviews online and in-person research tools available. He asked
the commission how they want divide the research among themselves and what they would like
to do with the information after it is found. Mr. Morse would like to finish the list of properties
he had lett and volunteered to go to the County Archives. Mr. Kearney would like to go to the
Archives during October or later and Ms. Egan -Reeves would be able to go during the day. Mr.
Morse suggested getting the names of the property owners around the time they are researching
to effectively use the time at the Archives. At the Archives, members will need to find property
owner names and determine when the home was built based on the property values, some of
which may be inconclusive and will need further research. Mr. Aspery suggested splitting the list
up between Mr. Morse, Mr. Kearney and Ms. Cardarelli. Mr. Morse volunteered to review some
of the online research tools with commission members at the next meeting if they are interested.
Butternut Ridge Pocket Park
Ms. Lieber said the first committee meeting was held on August 5th with representatives from the
Landmarks Commission, Arts Commission, Kiwanis, Parks and Recreation and Planning
Department. Goals and objectives for the site were discussed, including appropriateness for the
district, including public art, maintenance and accessibility. It is a small space so not all of the
ideas generated will be incorporated in this project, but they may be able to be used in other
potential projects. Staff is looking into funding opportunities and obtaining the engineering
proposal for the project.
Certificates of Appropriateness
Mr. Neville reviewed that minor changes for generators in the side yard were approved at 26644
Butternut Ridge Road and 26650 Butternut Ridge Road on June 18, 2019.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
David Neville, Chair
Date: le -7 // / % 9
Nicole Rambo -Ackerman, Administrative
Assistant
