interested in coming to the event. Stephanie will double check with Kim and Leah about
requiring fundraising groups to fill out vendor paperwork or how to select the groups who are
allowed to fundraise at the event. There were concerns about not letting the Boosters sell
merchandise after they thought they were coming to the event and other groups not being able to
fundraise at the event. The market vendors were set up in the Cabin last year.
Yotza+
The Cabin has been reserved January 11, February 8 and March 14, 2020 for Yoga+. A
brainstorming session with Kim, Jackie, Leah and Kelly Patrick will be October 22 for the "plus"
portions of the events. Potential topics may be herb or essential oils demos, Ayurveda, yoga for
runners, a second workout, coffee or tea tastings, kirtan, healthy skin products (Flower Power in
Lakewood), art therapy, chakra salad, chair massages, yoga and painting or reiki. Jackie said
many people were interested in attending yoga events during the winter months and there are
other types of outdoor yoga available which contributed to the dwindling attendance at the
summer events. The "plus" portion would incorporate more culture into the event for attendees.
Mayor's Art Show
The Mayor's Art Show will be Wednesday, February 5, 2020 in Old Town Hall from 6-8PM.
Sue reviewed the committee meeting notes. OHS gave the Commission stands to use to hang the
artwork and the committee will work on figuring out how to attach the artwork. Staff is looking
at pedestals to display the three-dimensional pieces. The event will have a "sparkly" theme with
a coat check and a "bar" with sparkling grape juice to create an atmosphere similar to a
professional art gallery. Staff will look into getting the space spruced up a little bit and will reach
out to Polaris about providing hors d'ouerves. The gallery will be open during the evening the
following two nights for public to visit and a few commissioners will need to help cover the time
slots. The hope is to have an extra event for families the Saturday after as additional incentive for
the public to view the artwork. The art will be dropped off a week before the event and tear down
will be the Sunday after.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
City Hall Art Gallery
Sue will follow up with Jason Berenson about applying for the November show. Robert Parry is
planning on submitting his application for the December show.
COMMUNICATIONS
Community Council Update
Wilma said the President's Dinner for Community Council is coming up, Leah or Stephanie will
attend on behalf of the Arts Commission. Homecoming profited $11,707 and $6,000 will go to
scholarships. They still have money available in the Cabin fund, some of which Jackie applied
for some improvements for the Senior Center.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:46 p.m.
