ensure adequate lighting is on the stairs. The opening will be Wednesday, February 5th from 6- <br />8PM. Additional gallery hours will be on Friday, February 7th and Saturday, February 8th. The art <br />teachers in the district have been invited to bring their students to view the gallery during work <br />hours to increase visibility. The invitations and programs will be very simple and will be printed <br />on cream cardstock. Sue is working on updating the certificates. Sue will also send Nicole the <br />standards for the artwork descriptions. Sue has tabletop easels that can be used if needed. The <br />goal is to have most of the artwork along the perimeter of the room. Wilma reached out to the <br />music director to see if there are any soloists who may be able to perform for the event. After <br />looking at the space, it was decided not to have a coat check room and to have limited amounts <br />of seating. The first room on the side will be for food and beverages and the second room will <br />have high -top tables and some seating. Nicole will reach out to Ken Srail regarding photography. <br />City Hall Art Gallery <br />An application was submitted by Diane Brown. One of Curtis Avant's pieces fell earlier in the <br />day and staff is not sure why it fell. Kim suggested using the opportunity to repair the walls since <br />many holes and tears have been made in the walls over the years which may have contributed to <br />the picture falling. While the commissioners thought the applicant was a talented artist, they did <br />not think City Hall would be a good venue for the work. <br />Sue moved to approve the City Hall Art Gallery application from Diane Brown for <br />February 2020, motion denied 0-8. <br />Earth Fair <br />Casa de Kelly is interested in coming to Earth Fair. Jackie and Leah are unable to be at the event. <br />Kim asked the rest of the Commission to plan on helping on the day of the event even if they are <br />not on the planning committee. Leah thought the magician and bubble lab to the event last year <br />worked really well. Janelle was unsure if Our Zoo to You would be able to come to the event but <br />she will reach out. Vendors need to be secured for the event as soon as possible since they will <br />book quickly. A committee meeting will be scheduled to start planning the event. Kim suggested <br />incorporating the reduced waste theme into the event in creative ways, such as the supplies that <br />are purchased or how information is shared with attendees. Leah wanted to change the vendor <br />donation to a fee since she did not think the vendors were as committed to the event. She thought <br />the vendors at the last event did well and believed the commission is getting better at selecting <br />vendors that fit in with the event. Nicole will reach out to Ken Srail about doing photography at <br />the event. <br />Butternut Ridge Pocket Park <br />The Call for Artists submissions are due January 17th and Kim has received one so far. <br />Discussion about priorities for the artist selected, including style, experience and proximity to <br />North Olmsted. <br />Veterans Art Gallery <br />Nicole reviewed her initial concept for the Veterans Art Gallery. She would like the event to <br />bring civilians and current and former military members together to share stories and <br />experiences. She would like to have the event at Old Town Hall and have performances included <br />throughout the event in addition to artwork on display. The event could be open to military <br />members and their families to get different perspectives. Potential people to reach out to may be <br />
